Institute presentation

The Department of Radiology (head Prof M Prokop) offers top-level clinical diagnostics and research. The Biomedical MR group is one of the 3 research groups in this department and consists of 2 senior researchers, 4 postdocs, 12 PhD students and 3 technical hard and software support persons. These latter persons will also be available to support the proposed project (if awarded) on acquisition, hardware and data processing matters. At the Department we have two 3T and two 1.5T clinical MR systems available. One of the 3T systems is largely reserved for research and is optimized for skeletal muscle measurements including dedicated RF coils for 1H, 31P and 13C investigations. We have recently built a very high SNR 31P array detection probe for the Tibialis Anterior, which allows single shot acquisitions. Our setup also includes an ergometer for muscle exercise experiments in the magnet. Our department also includes a large image processing group and a clinical research section.
